Controversial move? Agent confirms Arsenal can now agree deal to sign £220,000-a-week star
The Gunners have been handed another boost following a statement from the agent of one of their potential transfer targets in an interview.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is believed to be keen on adding more and more experienced players to the team which he has taken over from Arsene Wenger.
Thus, big names like Yaya Toure have suddenly become easy transfer targets for the man who was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain’s star-studded squad last season.
Toure, who has been pocketing £220,000-a-week in wages at Manchester City, was often linked with a move to Arsenal, prior to his Premier League switch a few years ago.
And according to Dimitri Seluk, the agent of the powerful midfielder, Toure is open to transferring to a club like Arsenal after the expiration of his contract at City.
“Yaya has received many offers from different countries, big money offers, but we have decided to devote the next season to Guardiola,” he said
“To proving to the Manchester City fans that Yaya is not finished with football. He is full of strength and energy and wants to play in England this season.
“At a time when English clubs are spending huge sums of money on players, I officially declare that Yaya is ready to move to any top-six English club as a free agent with a salary of £1 per week. As long as a success-based bonus system is in place.
“I think a player like Yaya would be good for a club like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham or Liverpool. Yaya is a winner.
“And a top player with leadership qualities could never be a bad addition to a team, especially when he doesn’t require payment.”
Due to his recent comments about Pep Guardiola and the fact that Toure, who has occasionally been bashed for being lazy, is now 34, a move for him would indeed be a controversial one by Emery.
