Piers Morgan applauded the Gunners goalscoring hero of the day as they defeated Manchester City 2-0 to the surprise of many in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal were aware of the tough test of facing Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend, only a few weeks after being thrashed 3-0 by them right at the start of the post-lockdown resumption of football.

With a place in the top seven of the Premier League almost out of reach, Arsenal now know the importance of the FA Cup as a route to Europe next season and they certainly came out fighting at Wembley on Saturday.

A resolute display from the Gunners saw them secure a memorable win, courtesy of two fine goals from top scorer Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

The former Dortmund star managed to find the net twice with a pair of well-taken efforts and with  uncertainty surrounding his future at the club, it was yet another reminder of what Aubameyang means to Arsenal.

Thus, Piers Morgan has called for the club to pay the striker whatever amount he is demanding to sign a new contract.
