The Gunners appear to be on the brink of another new addition this summer, according to various reports on Wednesday.
After the departure of Arsene Wenger last month, new Arsenal boss Unai Emery has been eager to strengthen his squad ahead of his debut season at the club.
Having secured the services of Stephan Lichsteiner and Bernd Leno, Emery will be eager to add more quality to an Arsenal defence which conceded the most goals out of all of the top six sides in the Premier League last term.
A deal to sign Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund has been one of the Gunners’ priorities all summer and the transfer move now appears to be near completion.
According to Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc in an interview, it appears as though the 29-year-old’s £16m move to the Emirates stadium is on course to happen.
“It tends to go there [the deal] that’s right. But things are not completely finalised yet.” Zorc said
“And I will not work with you now and talk about the rumour mill, which includes 27 new BVB players since the end of May.”
