Petr Cech’s squad number at Arsenal is to remain unrevealed until August according to various claims.
The 33-year-old completed one of the summer biggest transfers last Monday as he joined the Gunners in a £10.9m deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
But while the much-anticipated transfer was finally sealed last week, the Czech international’s new squad number was not made public.
The club’s official instagram account has been responsible for revealing the shirt numbers of new signings over the past two years following the popular arrivals of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
Arsenal have reportedly received an enquiry from Fenerbahce about a deal for David Ospina but a spokesman from the Turkish club recently denied that the transfer was imminent.
The Colombian shot-stopper is believed to be the player to make way for Petr Cech in Arsene Wenger’s squad as Wojciech Szczesny looks set to settle for the number 2 spot.
And according to speculation, the Polish goalkeeper could switch to the no. 13 shirt he wore during the 2011/12 season if Ospina’s departure is finalized before the season begins next month.
Following the exit of Abou Diaby, the no. 24 is available for a back-up goalkeeper but Arsenal’s silence over Cech’s number implies that the former Chelsea star will not be settling for a random squad number.
