Report: Wolves 1-4 Arsenal
Another thrilling performance identical to Wednesday’s meant Arsenal continued their ascendancy in the Premier League – jumping to second place ahead of Sunday’s showdown between Chelsea and United.
Like a week ago, Arsenal virtually had victory secured with the second-half to spare today.
Eduardo forced two own goals before Fabregas wrapped up matters by half-time.
Andrey Arshavin added a fourth in the second half to complete a comfortable evening’s work for the Gunners, while Craddock notched a late consolation for Mick McCarthy’s men.
Wolves did start the brighter, and tested the Arsenal back line with a number of dangerous set-pieces early on.
It was, however, the visitors who took the lead after 28 minutes when Zubar, under pressure from Eduardo, turned a swinging corner into his own net.
Seven minutes later it was two, with Robin van Persie providing strike partner Eduardo with the opportunity to lift a delicate lob over the onrushing Wayne Hennessey – although his effort did take a wicked deflection off Craddock.
Arsenal were now in cruise control and ensured that they would be leaving with maximum points moments before half-time when Fabregas squeezed an effort inside the post from a tight angle.
The North London outfit continued to dominate after the break and Arshavin duly drilled a fourth low into the bottom corner on 66 minutes when Wolves could only half-clear a corner.
Arsenal yet again gifted consolation to their beaten opponents when Craddock rose highest to plant a powerful header past Manuel Almunia on 89 minutes, but they had been well outclassed.
sorry, the second goal is provide by ramsey.pls make it clear
Bit worried how we cant seem to keep a clean sheet these days
really frustrating this time it was vermaelens fault although it was another impressive performance from him we weren’t at our best and we scored four so great week once again pity no arsenal for 2 weeks
Arsenal’s attacking style is always gonna leave the defence exposed a bit but must stay focused.
We dont need another match like vs west ham
nice report randy
RandyO, good report!
4-1 great game!
Clean sheet…didn’t happen..continue moving on to bigger and better things. Nothing is lost, yet!
Gotta give a shout out to, Alex Song for his tremendous improvement thus far, and excellent contribution today when called upon. You can tell how much the game changed once he came on after, Diaby got injured. Prove me wrong whoever wants to, but Song is making Flamini look like he was NEVER at Arsenal! And, NO, Song will not pull a, Flamini and leave after a good season! A star has been born…Alex Song!
Happy to be a Gunner!!! 🙂
Is there any holding midfielder besides Song? If not, its a caused of concern. Can’t over rely on him caused he might get injured, suspended or burned out.
Fair run about, good result, expected and delivered!
We started to improve after Diaby left the field and can only hope that in his absence,Wenger will notice that we maintain possesion far longer,no more free give away passes to the opposition!
As an mediocre coach (my status)…I would put in, Denilson. We all know the lad is out, though! I would def put a 4-4-2 system, knowing, Song was to be out and, Denilson still injured.
Diaby, I support you very much but today you have once again proved wrong! Sorry, Diaby, but Actions Speak Louder Than Words! This is the EPL you must take your chance now or you might miss the train! It’s time we focus on buying a CDM in January! No lie! Our Defense has to be solid after January going towards May! Once, Song is gone for ANC Diaby is not the answer!
Love for Gunners worldwide!
I am NOT saying, NOT to play, Diaby, but he is not our answer for CDM at the moment!
Diaby, has been improving and has that physical appearance we need on the pitch along, Song! I just don’t want to rely on, Diaby for that job once, Song is gone.
That is all!
Boys, this is a goood f’ing team!!! Two loses this year on the road to tough teams is well played.
Up the Guns!!!!
Ramsey isn’t ready. He was beaten too many times to count, and he had a couple of very selfish plays. Song will go soon, and I don’t think Denilson and Ramsey can cover Cesc. I really don’t think Wenger will buy in the transfer window…but I hope he does…
worst case – missing song thru injury would be dreadful. but i cannot agree that it’ll be the end of things. denilson did a fine job this season before injury. but denilson will cover for him. faith people, faith!
