Arsenal have been dealt a new injury blow ahead of next month’s busy fixtures in the Premier League and Champions League.
Injuries had been lesser of a problem for Arsenal so far this seaosn than it had been in recent years with only a handful of players sidelined throughout September and for the best part of October.
However, even though the Gunners are set to welcome a couple of players back from their spell on the sidelines, Arsene Wenger’s luck with injuries appears to have gotten worse again.
Following the return to fitness of Olivier Giroud, another forward has been added to the list of players in the treatment room.
Lucas Perez, who has rarely featured for Arsenal since joining from Deportivo La Coruna, picked up an injury against Reading which now means he will miss the upcoming fixtures against Sunderland, Ludogorets, Tottenham, Manchester United, PSG, Bournemouth and Southampton.
“From Tuesday night we’ve lost Lucas for a while with an ankle injury. I think he’ll be out for six to eight weeks.” Wenger said at Friday’s press-conference
“It’s very frustrating, he’s absolutely gutted because it’s a stupid injury that’s come from nowhere, a deliberate kick. He will be out for six to eight weeks.
“I think it was more a frustrated reaction from the player but you have to deal with that. In this case it’s unfortunate.”
