Premier League shortlists Aaron Ramsey for award
Aaron Ramsey has been shortlisted among the nominees for the ‘Premier League player of the month’ award for September.
The 22-year-old is also deemed as the favourite to be named the best performer from last month after netting a staggering four goals in four matches from midfield during the month of September.
Ramsey has already racked up four ‘man of the match’ awards from Arsenal’s opening six games this year and he is likely to add another accolade to his growing collection.
The Gunners’ number 16 is currently the club’s top scorer with eight goals so far, winning praises as the biggest revelation in Arsene Wenger’s side this campaign after making one match-winning contribution after another in the Premier League and Champions League.
Those numbers tell the story about how much Ramsey has come a long way since recovering from a terrible leg break at Stoke City in 2010. And following last weekend’s win over Swansea City where he provided the winning goal, the midfielder admitted that he knows of the criticism his performances had received over the past couple of years while he was finding his feet again.
But the former Cardiff City boy credited his improved form to fact that he is no longer being played out of position by his manager.
“I have had a bit of stick over the last season but I was playing all over the place and I am a center midfielder.” Ramsey said
“I have worked hard, I am the type who never gives up. I felt like towards the back end of last season, I definitely was improving and in the new campaign, I feel really good and confident.”
