Arsene Wenger is set to include Alex Iwobi in the squad which travels to Birmingham on Sunday for the clash with Aston Villa.

Injuries to attacking options Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky have forced the Arsenal boss to dip into the club’s youth ranks for cover this season.

Youngsters Alex Iwobi, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Krystian Bielik, Chris Willock, Julio Pleguezuelo, Donyell Malen, Kaylen Hinds, Stephy Mavididi and goalkeeper Matt Macey well all called up to train with the Gunners’ first team on Saturday ahead of the league clash with Aston Villa.

Despite the returns of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, Wenger is still short of forwards to be named on the bench on Sunday.

Therefore, Alex Iwobi and Jeff Reine-Adelaide are again in contention to be included in the 18-man squad to visit Villa Park.

Iwobi is tipped to travel with the first team while there is chance for Reine-Adelaide, a player currently regaining his fitness after returning from a head injury a week ago.

A notable absentee during Saturday’s training session was Mesut Ozil who has now registered 12 assists in the Premier League this season.

The German midfielder was allowed to have a rest as a precaution after showing signs of a calf problem ahead of the Olympiakos game earlier this week.
