Emerging reports are suggesting that Yaya Sanogo is on course to end his loan spell at Ajax ahead of a return to the Premier League.

The French striker has failed to impress in Holland after joining the Dutch side on loan at the start of the season.

Ajax made it clear that an early exit for Sanogo in January was possible following an indifferent six months from the former Auxerre man so far this campaign.

According to reports on Monday, Sanogo and his representative have entered talks with Charlton over a loan deal for the rest of the season.

The Championship club, who are battling to avoid relegation this season, have been in pursuit of a new goalscorer.

Arsenal are understood to have given the 23-year-old the permission to find a suitable move before the January transfer windows closes.

When asked about Sanogo’s future recently, Arsene Wenger demanded more from the young striker.

“Look, Sanogo needs to play,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“For me, he needs to play in the Premier League. Then we’ll know much more about him. I think he’s ready – it’s a very interesting challenge for him to have that responsibility. It’s part of the development of the player.”
