Three key players miss training ahead of Sunday’s match
Arsenal have their own injury worries but they may be boosted by the news of Manchester United’s missing trio ahead of this weekend’s Premier League match.
The Gunners travel to Old Trafford on Sunday with hopes of maintaining their pursuit of the title with 12 games left to play.
After winning only once at United’s ground in the past decade – a 1-0 victory in 2006 – Arsenal will have to produce an inspired display to secure the three points.
However, Louis van Gaal’s side could be without more vital players in their on-going injury crisis. Wayne Rooney (knee), Marouane Fellaini (muscle injury) and Matteo Darmian (shoulder) are all out, as are Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
But more significant could be the absences of Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling and superstar goalkeeper David de Gea who have been rated as doubtful for the clash after failing to train with the team on Friday.
On the other hand, Arsenal’s only injury concerns are Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky who are the only players ruled out of this weekend’s fixture.
Gabriel has reported back to first team training while Danny Welbeck should be fit to face his old club after recovering from a knee problem.
