Wenger confirms awful news on Arsenal star
Arsene Wenger has confirmed fears that Aaron Ramsey could be out until April after succumbing to a new injury problem at Hull City.
The Welsh midfielder was introduced as a substitute in the second-half of the FA Cup replay on Wednesday night.
However, Ramsey lasted only 16 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Jeff Reine-Adelaide as he headed straight back into the dressing room.
According to Wenger, the 25-year-old – one of three injured players from the trip to the KC stadium – could spend more time on the sidelines than Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.
“Mertesacker is just a cut on his eye and looks to be very short. Gabriel is a hamstring and Ramsey is a thigh problem.” the Frenchman said
“To me, the most serious looks to be Ramsey. He has a thigh problem, I think it is a thigh strain.”
Ramsey, who has failed to last the full length of a campaign in recent years has been troubled by injuries since hitting top form in late 2013.
The absence of the former Cardiff City star could see new signing Mohammed Elneny cement a regular place in Wenger’s team for the rest of the season.
Ramsey will undergo a scan Wednesday as the Gunners prepare for this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final against Watford at the Emirates stadium.
