Max Eberl, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s director of sport, insists the club is yet to receive an offer from Arsenal for Granit Xhaka despite current speculation.

The 23-year-old has been deemed as a target for Arsene Wenger who is in search of new options in midfield as the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta prepare for a summer exit.

Rumours have suggested that Arsenal are ready to pay €43m for Xhaka’s services after Mönchengladbac’s decision to sign Tobias Strobl from Hoffenheim as a replacement for the player.

However, Eberl, who is in charge of the German club’s transfer dealings has revealed there has been no enquiry or approach from Arsenal despite reports claiming otherwise.

“I fear it could get very tumultuous regarding rumours in summer,” he said

“There is currently no offer from England. I’ll keep you up to date when the first faxes roll in.”

Borussia Monchengladbach’s head coach Andre Schubert has also play down the Swiss international’s move to Arsenal.

“They need not even send the fax with a 30 million euro offer for Granit Xhaka,” said Schubert.
