Wenger: The bad news to confirm today
Danny Welbeck’s injury against Manchester City appears to be a problem which could see him return to the sidelines for another long lay-off.
The 25-year-old finally recovered from a knee injury to play for the first time in over nine months in February after undergoing surgery during the summer.
However, Welbeck, who has been in impressive form since returning, now fears being ruled out of Euro 2016 after limping off in the first-half of Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Manchester City.
According to Arsene Wenger, the early signs are not looking good for the former Manchester United striker who may have damaged a knee ligament.
“Danny Welbeck has a knee problem. I hope it is not too bad. We need to wait for a scan, I hope that it is not bad one and a meniscus.” the Arsenal manager said
“When I say good, that means he will not be out of the Euros. The bad news would be if he is out of the Euros, but I don’t know. I’m an optimist. I don’t know if it is a lateral meniscus. Lets wait until we get the real diagnosis.”
