FC Barcelona have finally made their position clear about rumours claiming they are interested in signing Hector Bellerin from Arsenal this summer.

The young Spaniard, who left Spain for England as a teenager, has been linked with a move back to his old club ever since he made his first-team breakthrough for Arsene Wenger’s side 18 months ago.

Various reports from the media have suggested that the the La Liga champions are targeting Bellerin as a replacement for aging Brazilian star Dani Alves who has asked for a departure.

However, Robert Fernandez, Barcelona’s sporting director, has finally broken the club’s silence over the rumoured transfer deal.

“He is a magnificent player but it [signing Bellerin this summer] is not something that we will be pursuing.” Fernandez said on Wednesday.

Thomas Vermaelen was the last Gunner to leave the Emirates stadium for Camp Nou.
