A former Arsenal player has boldly expressed his thoughts on the club’s current deficiencies heading into the 2016/17 title race.

Despite witnessing major rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all struggle last season, the Gunners failed to capitalise by winning the Premier League.

After surrendering the title to underdogs Leicester City in May, Arsenal have now entered the new campaign on the back of 12 years without being crowned champions of England.

That fact does not sit well with many frustrated fans and former Gunner Nwankwo Kanu admits he feels the same way.

According to the Nigerian, Arsene Wenger’s side tends to fluff their lines when big results are needed.

“You know the problem with Arsenal. When you need them, they let you down.” Kanu said

However, the ex-Arsenal striker is clinging on to hopes that his old club will make amends this season.

“I believe they have learned from that.” he added

“It doesn’t matter how good you play football, you need to get the points when it’s needed.”
