Wenger confirms talks to officially agree deal for 24-year-old in January
Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club is preparing negotiations over an important deal by the new year.
The Arsenal manager was criticized for much of last summer after securing fewer signings than expected but he did win over most of the fans by clinching a double deal for Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez during the final days of the transfer window.
Apart from signing new players, Wenger is charged with the task of making sure his star players are fully committed to the club.
And following the confirmation of Hector Bellerin’s new contract on Monday, the Gunners boss has revealed another young player, Jack Wilshere, will be next in line.
According to Wenger, the 24-year-old, who is currently on loan at Bournemouth is set to enter talks with Arsenal over a new deal after a string of encouraging displays for Eddie Howe’s side.
“Ideally, yes. We have to plan that [negotiating his contract] around the new year.” the Arsenal manager said
“He gets regular football and now on the observations I get from our people who watch him, he’s getting stronger every week.
