Wenger back in to push through another defensive deal for £14m – Report
The Gunners are closing in on another outbound transfer deal according to emerging reports from Italy.
Over the past year, Arsene Wenger appears to have altered his policy when it comes to players who want to leave by loaning them out and choosing to sell only one star, Serge Gnabry last summer.
Arsenal have adopted a policy similar to that of Manchester City (before Pep Guardiola’s reign at least) where players who are out-of-favour are given a second chance to impress by spending time on loan elsewhere instead of being sold permanently.
However, one man on course to buck the trend is Wojciech Szceseny after nearly two seasons on loan with AS Roma in the Serie A.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Wenger is back in discussions with Roma over the permanent transfer of the Poland international which would be worth around £14 million – Arsenal’s second deal in the defensive department after the signing of left-back Cohen Bramall this week.
Szczesny has proven to be a stand-out performer for the Italian side this season as he produced a sublime late save against Genoa to keep another clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over the weekend.
