Wenger now finishing deal for $65m star to be next signing after Lacazette
Apart from securing the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, Arsene Wenger is nearing a deal for another target according to emerging rumours.
As Mesut Ozil’s contract situation remains unclear, the Gunners manager is expected to consider the addition of an attacking midfielder.
Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has been picked out as one of Wenger’s main targets in that position since last summer.
And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, the Gunners are actually wrapping up the signing of the Algeria international.
The report, which is labelled as an ‘exclusive’ by the source, is claiming that Arsenal are hopeful of completing the deal for Mahrez in the coming days.
Last week, Sky Bet deemed the Emirates stadium as the 26-year-old’s likeliest next destination after rumours that he was no longer waiting on a move to Barcelona.
Mahrez, who is valued at $65 million (£50 million) was an integral part of the Leicester City side which won the Premier League title to the surprise of many two seasons ago.
