Leicester City break silence over Mahrez to Arsenal transfer claim
Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has addressed rumours which have suggested that Riyad Mahrez is set for a move to north London.
The Algeria international, who was voted PFA Player of the Year in 2016, has been identified as one of Arsene Wenger’s main targets since last year.
Following an underwhelming 2016/17 campaign at the King Power stadium, Mahrez is believed to be seeking a way out of the club this summer.
And according to Shakespeare, the Foxes are aware of the midfielder’s desire to leave but no offer has been received from Arsenal.
“I’m not worried,” the Leicester boss said
“Can it be disappointing when a player comes out publically? Yes.
“I think we have to look what is behind that as well, in terms of advice.
“We have to understand Riyad’s concerns but while he is contracted to the football club, and while we’ve had no bids for him, which we haven’t, he has to be professional and we have to be professional.
“He has to be fully committed here and I expect him to do that.”
