Jack Wilshere has sent out a warm message to the Arsenal faithful following his return to action on Thursday night against FC Cologne.

The Gunners began their Europa League campaign with a 3-1 victory against the German side despite going behind early on in the game through an error from David Ospina.

Thursday’s match saw Jack Wilshere make his first appearance for the senior side since the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

The 25-year-old spent half of the past 12 months on loan at Bournemouth and the rest out of action as he nursed a severe injury he sustained at the start of this calendar year.

Wilshere was in impressive form during his second half cameo, helping Arsene Wenger’s men clinch their second win in a row in all competitions.
