Cesc Fabregas netted a brace while Samir Nasri and Abou Diaby also got their names on the scoresheet as the Gunners eased to a win.

Arsenal’s skipper broke the deadlock on 25 minutes with a lowly struck effort before Nasri showed great composure in front of goal to double the home side’s lead by half-time.

Fabregas then curled the ball home with aplomb early in the second-half and with 18 minutes left, Diaby added a fourth goal with a similar strike.

The Gunners had more than made up for gifting the Dutch side a 1-1 draw a fortnight ago and even a late goal from Alkmaar’s Jeremain Lens merely proved a consolation.

Olympiakos’ loss against Standard Liege in Group H’s other game on Wednesday night means Arsenal are yet to mathematically progress to the knockout stage of the competition but the odds are right on their side.
