Your View: Are you scared of Manchester City?
Not just the color of their new outfit got Manchester City labeled as the ultimate dark horses of the Premier league’s top four.
There is more to the force they are making themselves into after a very audacious step to rewrite their history since an Arabian takeover last year.
Apparently, City are the Premier League’s latest contenders – whether to join a group of top dogs or repeat Chelsea’s title-buying feat in the 2004/05 season.
If their bizarre collection of strikers was slammed by pundits, they responded yesterday by stealing a decent defender in Kolo Toure from Arsenal.
City have made money talk this summer, but can they walk the walk in the league next season?
Should Arsenal be concerned about how Manchester City are rebuilding their club?
Let’s know what you think.
fvcking oath…they are dangerous
ignoring them is murder
Yes and No.
Everybody knows it takes considerable time for a team to gel together, and we’ve seen from this preseason that Man City isn’t exactly lighting teams up.
But with that being said, they also have a stacked Midfield with Ireland and Barry running things. And you can’t tell me that an Ade/Tevez partnership won’t make some goals. And now with Dunne and Toure in the back, they’re looking pretty solid.
Not to mention Robinho and SWP flying down the wings.
But you never know how the players are going to fit together.
Still, im going to go with yes, they do scare me.
Please explain the ‘bizarre collection of strikers? Tevez, Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Bellamy are our main strikers…force to be reckoned with is a better more accurate description…
There will be more new signings before the end of transfer window for Man City. At the rate Arsenal is conducting themselves in the transfer market with only Vermalean to show, I am very afraid.
Dont go by our pre season so far, Hughes has played mainly reserve & youth players and players that probably wont play a huge part in the season to come in the 4 pre season games so far, our next 3 pre season games i am sure he will step things up and the games will feature the big guns but still no pre season game is anything to go by as Hughes is just using them to get players match fit, not to win silly meaningless mini tournaments.
for example our 1st game against Orlando Pirates featured 3 first team players.
I hope the team / squad can gel quickly because with all the money he has spent and still more to be spent, if we dont gel quickly and start winning league games i really dont know how long he’ll last in the job.
all this remains to be seen and it will make for an interesting season
Everybody City has signed pre-season is an improvement on that position last year and it was only our away performances which cost us a top 6 finish.
The quality signed in the past weeks will be stengthened by quality youth products such as Johnson, Weiss, Richards, SWP, Ireland, Onuoha.
If we sign Lescott the foundation for defence will be British – Given, Richards, Bridge, Lescott and should provide a solid foundation supported by the qulaity of Kolo.
The negativity of Jo& Elano has gone and Robinho will have to stand up and be counted or he will not get a place.
Bellamy is the secret weapon and could easily find himself automatically in the starting 11 if he takes his chance.
Glad to see Bojinov is on loan only as the player has the potential to be top quality and a season on a football pitch is what he needs.
if we don’t pick up Huntelaar and Hang or Vierra or Inler then I will be scared. But a team of all stars will not win. Just wait till Robinho starts to complain, Ady starts to complain, Toure gets injured, you can’t team teamwork, Skill can only take you so far.
Look at the Yankees! Look at Real right now.
Arsenal has heart, passion and teamwork that will lift them up. If anyone should be scared it’s Manure. I think we will finish 3rd or higher
Chelsea will be favorites to win if they stay healthy followed by pool, us and Manure. I don’t know why everyone thinks Arsenal should be scared when Maure is their arch rival and in the same city!
Title buying, you crack me up, oh you mean exactly what United have been doing the past 30 years lmfao.
The only club that cannot be accused of buying titles is ? wait a minute, there is none who cannot.
The threat posed by City would be negligible if Monsieur Wenger was prepared to use THEIR money to strengthen HIS squad.Unfortunately the Arsenal Manager is under the impression that his squad is currently strong enough! He is,however, completely deluded as are the Arsenal Board.Taking the moral high ground and refusing to pay the Inflated Fees demanded within the current market and further justifying this stance by extolling the limited ability of players such as Bentner is a dangerous game to play. Champions League qualification cannot be guaranteed given the newly found financial resources of clubs like City and the tenacity of managers like Moyes. The great shame is that with the addition of one or two players Arsenal would be fighting for honours on all fronts. But it seems that the “Powers that Be” would rather bank the money to help leverage their ill conceived loan debt.I should really be looking forward to a Season where I feel United Chelsea and Liverpool are there for the taking.Instead I feel that this lack of re-investment will leave me with the same diappointment that I was forced to bear by last October!
I really hate to mention this:
Arsenal maintaining or even breaking into the top 4 is seriously under threat.
Wake up Mr. Arsene Wenger!
well, i think man city will give some big problems not only to us but to the all so colled big for.In this case i think, for us its not a big problem to beat them, because we always have known how to play against teamd who like to play their game and who try to show what they can do. we, maybe can take an advantage from it because man city will take some points from their rivals man united, thats for sure, they can take some points too from cheski, just to show them that they are not only richest than them, but even better than them. so i think this seasen we have to fight for the tittle and not considering the 4 th position.
Bunch of Girls!!! I ask you, do you Really think Man City are going to the top four, Bollocks. You watch, ARSENAL to win the Premier League this season. Are you scared of man city ?, I’ve seen bigger pimples on my arse.
Red Army
Absolutely. Their squad is now at least as strong as ours, probably Liverpool’s, maybe even United’s. The only question marks are over their manager. If he can make those players gel then they could be title contenders, never mind just battling us for fourth place.
Wenger really has to pull it out of the bag this year. We’ve sold three good players, admittedly for decent money. I believe we need two or three key players to challenge for the title.
Mark my words: Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season.
Don’t be so pessimistic, we’ve got the quality, we just need to show it more frequently!
you can tell what man citys plan is
they buy some of our good arsenal players so we are weaker and then take over or top 4 spot unless we buy people were we need replacments
i think we should buy huntellar, another centre back and another holding midfielder
Leave wenger alone, He knows what he is doing. Stop moaning and get behind our team.
He will get rid of players that do not give 110% – rightly so and he will not blurb on about how much money he has to spend as the players he targets will go up in value. Wenger is playing it cool and rightly so. Even if he does not buy now he can buy in Jan when he can see where we are lacking. Remember their is a credit crunch on and we have to make sure we are still about in another 100 years unlike Man Citeh and Chelski. When the money men get bored it will all end in tears.
Mark Hughes now has some huge ego’s to manage.. Throw in the problems of the African cup and the potential home grown player restrictions that Fifa and Uefa seem to be throwing around then we will see whether he has the ability. Regards the question Yes Im concerned but in reality no team in the premiership is a guaranteed 3 points these days. I think we will compete for the title and maintain top four status but injuries in key areas could be a huge issue if our luck continues in the same vain.
its such a shame to see all you arsenal fans who change their colours like a chamelion in 2003 arsene was the greatest manager for you and now you guys know so much that you have started doubting his ability and decision i think he is the best manager in the modern history of the game. i hope you guys will be the first one to leave the club if arsenal follows the way leeds and newcastle went. start thinking of the great mans vision for the club. he is true economist think how he has improved the finance at arsenal by using transfer window and selecting young talent and then selling them at huge profits salute to you sir arsene wenger grow up people and use ur brains
“he is a true economist” improve the finance at arsenal by using the transfer window to select young talent and then selling them at huge profits. Looks like Arsenal Football Club have become Arsenal Selling Club. No wonder we don’t win trophies anymore not to mention the Carling Cup.
Imagine a team with John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Stephen Gerrard and Wayne Rooney all turning out. They can’t win fuck all, because they’ve got no real experience playing together and can’t become a proper team. City will have the same problem, for at least a few seasons.
Those players mentioned above are England’s International.Looks like England will never win the World Cup or anything at all.
Hahahaha, spot on!!!
And by that term “fuck all”, he is obviously English, so give him a chance…LOL
That was my point mate. England won’t win anything, and they’ve got the most formidable starting eleven in the world. They’re not good enough to beat the likes of Spain, Germany or Brazil even though England’s squad has more experience, more quality, more everything.
IT’S AN INSULT TO ENGLAND..LOL
City’s starting eleven is obviously starting to look pretty impressive too. But for me, until they get a big name manager, they’re not a genuine threat. Im sure they’ll be the Villa of next season for a while, but come May they won’t be in the Cl qualifying spots.
“Looks like England will never win the world cup” Correction. England did win the world cup in 1966.
Well, well, well. I’m just shaking my head reading most of these posts. Shame on you Arsenal fans! Oh Lord! If Arseal can compete with the best teams in the world (RM, Barcelona, Milan,..want me to go on?) why are we afraid of a tema that has NOT proved anything at all. Yes, they have strengthen their team, but it doesn’t guarantee success! All of a sudden it’s all going to hell with Arsenal. GUYS, GIVE ME A BREAK! Grow some balls! We are NOT going get pushed around! Not chelsea, Man U, nor Liverpool will push us around..what makes you think we should be affraid of Man City? If anything Arsenal is out to get Man City for all the hype that has been said this summer. Arenal is out to prove this season and Man City stands no chance against the top4. I think they went overboard on spending and purchased waaay too many players. That will be a problem for them.
We have a good team at the moment. I just hope Rosicky, Eduardo and Nasri will make it through the season! That will be key! I still think we need a strong CDM and one more defensive player to replace, Toure.
BTW, for those who don’t know. Hleb, just went on loan!!! <–Now, that is what I call KARMA!!! Players who leave for money never are the same player sthey were when they played for Arsenal!
Cheers to all!
Go Gunners!
We hear the same shit every close season now. Last year when Spurs brought in Modric, Pavlyuchenko, dos Santos, the concensus was that it was their year, their time to break into the top 4. That didn’t exactly work out, did it? What have City actually got? 2 average strikers in Santa Cruz and Tevez, one work-shy money grabber in Adebayor, a Toure who isn’t the same player as 2 years ago and one overrated midfielder in Barry. The potentials there, but, as we all know being Arsenal fans, potetial doesn’t win jack shit.
Thanks fo saying that, Jonny!
no, not scared at any cost.. I would hardly be scared of a club to whom we’ve offloaded two players, who, if we look at it, we didnt need anymore.. Adebayor – arrogant. will put in a few goals for city and will want to move on again next season. 25million, big money.
Toure – Not a natural centre back, lost his pace and past his best. 15 million was a big sum
With 40 million at bay, and even if only 25 million will be at hand to spend, wenger can fill the gaps that can will us the league. and he will. Manchester city will probably finish 6th or 7th. they cant shake off everton from the 4th spot.
oh, i meant everton off the 5th spot..
Cheers mate. We all listen too much to the media, who identify us as the weakest of the top 4 teams. Whether this is true or not, we are streets ahead of City, and Villa, Everton and Spurs for that matter.
Who we should focus more on are those teams that we are supposed to beat. Last year we lost some precious points against Hull, Sunderland, and others. We should be putting these teams away and running away with those points! If we can overcome that obstacle we will be in high gear by mid season.
Let’s not put too much attention on 1 team that has no credentials!
ha I just realized, where is Teves and Barry? Rut row, termoil already!! hahah..
can’t wait for this team to blow up and hughs get fired.
I am afraid that the big four has gone for ever, the richest family in the world, with the biggest oil field in the world has picked MCFC to become their showpiece to the world,So whether Mark Hughes or any of the players under achieve the future of MCFC has changed forever,so move over Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Chelsea
For anyone who says they’re not, Manchester City ARE in fact buying the Premier League title. I’ve got a feeling it’s going to blow up in Mark Hughes’ face, I really can’t wait to see it happen either. He obviously seems to think that buying top class players is going to get him the Prem title, he is wrong! It’s happened in the past i.e Chelsea, they’ve won nothing special over the past couple of years, yet look at the silly amounts of money they’ve spent. I can’t really see much else happening with the top 4, no matter how high up the table Man City finish, they will never be classed as a ‘top 4 club’, as the past years, maybe 5-6, maybe more, maybe less, it has been the same 4 clubs. I do believe Arsenal are under a little bit of threat, but Arsene knows more than us, he knows what he’s doing, let him get on with it, our time will come to win some more titles, I just think we need one or two highly experienced players for our youngsters to use as a mentor/someone to learn from. I’m liking the interest in De Rossi. ‘Lew the blue’, I think that last comment of yours is completely wrong, you’re assuming now Mark Hughes has the money you’re gonna win the Premier League title just like that, I believe we’re going to be seeing something different, give it a couple of years and City will go up in flames. BRING BACK VIEIRA FOR A COUPLE MORE YEARS!
I am just unsure what formation Hughes will deploy and how he will gel all these players. With Elano leaving, who besides Stephen Ireland will be creating goals – dont say Barry. I still think there midfield is a bit weak.
to big phil, YOU ARE ONE BIG FECKIN ARSE ! HAHAHAHA
HATE GOONERS HATE GOONERS HATE GOONERS HATE GOONERS, YOUR GOING DOWN YOU COCKS
TO GOONER, ARE YOU MENTAL, WHO WILL BE CREATING GOALS FOR CITY FROM MIDEFIELD: WRIGHT PHILLIPS, DE JONG, KOMPANY, BARRY, IRELAND, ROBINHO, ZABALETA, , ETUHU, PETROV, JOHNSON CAN ALL PLAY IN MIDFIELD AND CAN ALL CREATE GOALS, YOU’LL FIND ROBINHO WILL PROBABLY PLAY ON THE LEFT WING OR ROAMING ROLE RATHER THAN AS A STRIKER WITH A COMBINATION OF 2 FROM ADEBAYOR, TEVEZ, RSC OR BELLAMY UP FRONT AND HUGHES MAY YET REPLACE ELANO WITH VELOSO ANYWAY, SO I THINK YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED
