Arsenal agree £27.1m fee for another signing as 22-year-old nears switch

Following the arrival of Willian just a week ago, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is closing in another signing as the Gunners continue a busy summer of transfer movement.
The Gunners failed to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season, following another campaign that saw the team register a poor defensive record compared to rival clubs.
Thus, Mikel Arteta has been linked with a deal to Gabriel Magalhães in recent weeks and it now appears as though a transfer for the defender is close to being completed.
According to journalist Duncan Castles, the Brazilian is set to undergo a medical after Lille’s agreement to sell him to Arsenal for a fee of £27.1m.
Understand Lille have agreed to sell Gabriel Magalhães to Arsenal for a fee of €30million.

THE BOTTOM LINE
With William Saliba also set to join up with the squad a year after signing for the club, the addition of Gabriel could introduce a quality pair of young defenders into the picture at Arsenal.
This is exactly what this team needs after another campaign of frankly inconsistent defensive displays from the likes of Mustafi and Luiz.
Arsenal needs fresh new blood in core areas of the team and after the arrival of Gabriel, one would hope Arteta manages to sign a creative midfielder as well.
