Arsenal announce centre-back’s deal
Stefan O’Connor completed a three-month loan move to York City on Thursday.
The 18-year-old will be competing in League Two until the new year as Arsenal look to continue the development of rising stars despite the senior squad’s injury problems.
With Krystian Bielek being deployed at centre-back on regular basis, O’Connor has enjoyed limited action at the heart of the Arsenal U-21’s defence.
O’Connor, who prefers to play at centre-back, has rarely featured for the Gunners’ youth side so far this season after making his first-team debut in the Champions League almost a year ago.
The teenager completed 11 minutes of action against Galatasaray on that night as Arsenal’s fringe players were handed an opportunity in a 4-1 thrashing of the Turskish side.
Arsene Wenger currently has several youngsters out loan, including the likes of Serge Gnabry, Yaya Sanogo and Gedion Zelalem.
