Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a deal within the ‘next few days’ to let go of one of the players who have been deemed as deadwood material by the new manager.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is trying to put together his strongest possible squad for his first season at the club after replacing Arsene Wenger back in May.
The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has made several new signings so far, with the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira all completing moves to north London.
In order to trim down the squad as well, the Gunners are reportedly looking to offload young striker Chuba Akpom.
The 22-year-old has been a first team player for almost four years but his chances to impress were very limited under Arsene Wenger.
And according to the Independent’s journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke, Akpom is set to leave the club within the ‘next few days’.
Expecting Chuba Akpom to leave Arsenal in the next few days. Probably back to St Truiden in Belgium. £2m asking price. https://t.co/P2cx0DEPHC
