The Gunners confirmed another injury blow on Sunday, two days after the defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Arsenal were in action on Friday night against Manchester United in what turned out to be a frustrating affair in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the Emirates stadium.

Unai Emery already had several key players out of action heading into the clash and the Gunners boss knew he could not afford to lose any more men to injuries.

However, there was more bad news for Emery on Friday as summer signing Sokratis joined the list of injured players after suffering an injury in the first half of the game.

The Arsenal manager’s initial update after the game was that Sokratis’ injury might not be a serious one.

But on Sunday, the Gunners did move to confirm that the defender’s injury was indeed a bit serious.

Sokratis is now set to be ruled out of action until the end of February – four weeks from now – which will see him miss Tuesday’s clash with Cardiff City.

“Left ankle. Expected to return to full training by the end of February.” the Gunners said in an update on Sunday
