Arsenal enter negotiations to sign £15m man, five-year deal touted
Arsenal are apparently in negotiations over the possible signing of a new defender as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his back-line in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Gunners have struggled in the defensive department in recent seasons, conceding a flurry of goals which has denied the club a place in the Champions League for three years.
However, Mikel Arteta is keen on changing that and according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are now in talks to secure the signing of Axel Disasi from Reims this summer.
The report is indicating that the Gunners made an approach last December which was turned down by the French club but with Disasi’s contract set to expire next year, there appears to be a higher possibility of a deal being done this time.
Reims are claimed to be demanding a price of £15m and Arsenal are reportedly negotiating a five-year deal for the defender.
The Daily Mail’s report further suggests that the Gunners have been scouting Disasi since the start of the season and Arteta’s side appear to hold a strong interest in the Frenchman.
