Arsenal are said to be eyeing a move to sign one of the players Mikel Arteta worked with at Manchester City, as the new Arsenal boss looks to bolster his short-handed defensive unit.

As usual, the Gunners have entered the second half of the season with many injury woes to overcome, after recently losing Calum Chambers to a knee injury which will see him miss the rest of the campaign.

Thus, Mikel Arteta is in desperate need of someone to help fill the void left by the Englishman and it appears as though the Arsenal manager is now targeting Manchester City star John Stones.

According to a report by the Sun, the Gunners’ boss is lining up a move to land the services of Stones, whom he worked with at the Etihad stadium.

Arteta is claimed to be so keen on bringing the 25-year-old – whom he shares the same agents with – to Arsenal that he would even settle for a loan deal.

Stones, who is earning £100,000-a-week wages (Spotrac) at Manchester City, has been troubled by injuries ever since his move from Everton to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
