It is safe to say that everyone was not on the same page about how Francis Coquelin performed in yesterday’s victory over West Bromwich Albion.

The Frenchman retained his role alongside Granit Xhaka in midfield as Arsene Wenger decided against making too many changes to the team which lost consecutive games at Everton and Manchester City.

For much of Monday’s clash with Tony Pulis’ men, Arsenal had the lion’s share of possession as the away side kept several men behind the ball and defended in numbers.

That frustrating sequence resulted in Coquelin being brought off for Aaron Ramsey after 74 minutes of action with Wenger going for the jugular in the closing stages of the match.

Some felt the Arsenal manager did not need to deploy two holding midfielders against an organized West Brom team.
