Arsene Wenger has been handed a new boost towards the possible acquisition of Nice midfielder Jean Michael-Seri this summer.
The Arsenal manager witnessed his side suffer their first defeat of the campaign last Saturday as a strike from Jese Rodriguez secured a narrow win for Stoke City.
And with the transfer window still open, the addition of another new signing has certainly not been ruled out by Wenger.
Jean-Michael Seri was strongly linked with a move to the Emirares stadium but Barcelona have been deemed as the front-runners for his signature in recent weeks.
However, reports are now suggesting that Nice are not happy with Barcelona’s approach and they are yet to reach an agreement with the La Liga giants over the sale of the midfielder.
Negotiations appear to have been stalled by Nice’s demand for money and a player in exchange for Seri.
And the news will come as a boost for the Gunners who have not given up hope of signing the Ivorian star who was in impressive form in Ligue 1 last season.
