Arsene Wenger’s squad is in a much healthier state heading into this weekend’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Southampton.
The Gunners are preparing for a trip to the St. Mary’s stadium, where they have a worrying record in recent years, hoping to secure a place in the next stage of the domestic competition.
For the first time in quite a while, there has hardly been a strong demand from the fans for Wenger to secure new signings during the January transfer window due to the impressive depth of the current squad.
And ahead of the clash with the Saints, the Arsenal manager has more good news to reveal on the fitness of Theo Walcott and company.
“We have Theo Walcott back in the squad and of course we lose Granit Xhaka because he will be suspended.” Wenger told the media on Thursday
“Mohamed Elneny is at the Africa Cup of Nations and that’s it.
“The good news is that Per Mertesacker and Mathieu Debuchy are back in full training from Friday, so the squad is quite big, but we are a bit short in midfield at the moment.”
