In addition to confirming Shkodran Mustafi will be back this weekend, Arsene Wenger has given an update on the condition of his injured English quartet.
Arsenal are entering the new calendar year with work to do in their pursuit of the Premier League title as Chelsea maintain their nine-point lead at the top.
The Gunners have been troubled by injuries to important players for yet another season in arguably the busiest time of the campaign.
And after providing an update on the fitness of Mustafi on Thursday, Wenger also added that the likes of Kieran Gibbs and Theo Walcott would not be available for Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck are on course for a return.
“Alex looks like he could join in normal training on Saturday. From the last game, I think we lose Kieran Gibbs.” the Arsenal manager said
“It’s not big damage to his knee but he has inflammation and I don’t think he will be available.
“Danny Welbeck is doing well in training, so we have plenty of options. Theo Walcott will still be short.”
