Arsenal move in to sign new defender, cheap deal feasible
Arsenal have been linked with a move for a defender which may not be completed in the winter transfer window.
Arsene Wenger has only made one acquisition so far this month, securing a cheap £40,000 deal to sign Cohen Bramall from seventh tier side Hednesford.
The English youngster prefers to feature at left-back but he is unlikely to be used in the first team squad any time soon due to his lack of experience.
Therefore, Arsene Wenger is believed to be still in search of a new full-back to come in as a back-up to Nacho Monreal with the future of the injury prone Kieran Gibbs still uncertain.
As a result, Arsenal have reportedly joined Juventus in the race to sign promising Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolasinac.
The 23-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga club will expire at the end of this season and according to Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal have moved in to hijack Juventus’ pursuit of the defender.
Due to the player’s unwillingness to sign a new contract, Schalke are apparently interested in selling Kolasinac during this transfer window and are asking for a €3 million fee from any suitors.
Thus Juventus and Arsenal, who are both confident of securing the signing of the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, are awaiting a decision from the defender on his next destination with an inexpensive transfer on the cards.
