One of the Gunners’ first-team stars has confessed that Unai Emery is actually not the man at fault after the news of the Spaniard’s sacking on Friday morning.

Arsenal have been in below-par form this season, much to the frustration of most fans who have seen the club miss out on Champions League football for three straight seasons.

Unai Emery was given the opportunity to spend big during the summer with hopes of helping the team compete for a place in the top four of the Premier League.

But after a dreadful run of results over the past couple of months, the Gunners’ hierarchy decided to sack Emery on Friday.

Much of the blame has been directed towards the Spaniard but Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has suggested otherwise on social media.

The Argentine, who was given playing time in cup competitions under Emery, has confessed that it was the players who let the boss down over his relatively short tenure at the club.

Martinez has publicly apologized to Emery, admitting that ‘it is our fault’ on behalf of his teammates.
