Arsene Wenger is expected to give it another try next month when it comes to the players whom he was unable to sign ahead of this season.
The Gunners boss did well to complete the acquisitions of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette during the summer but he has received criticism due to the fact that those were the only two players he managed to add to his squad.
Indeed, Wenger missed out on several other targets including Leicester City midfielder Riyad Mahrez.
But according to Algerian outlet Le Buteur, the Gunners are ready to make a new offer for the signing of the 26-year-old star.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, AS Roma were actually the only club to make a formal bid for the midfielder last summer.
However, the three offers from the Serie A side were turned down for not meeting Leicester’s asking price of around £45million.
Due to the uncertainty currently surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez, who scored twice against Crystal Palace on Thursday night, Wenger is in search of a new attacking option.
The Arsenal manager has also been rumoured to be monitoring the situation of AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar whom he made a last-gasp bid for on transfer deadline day in the summer.
