Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is optimistic that Arsene Wenger will complete two important deals for his squad heading into the January transfer window.

The Gunners manager has been scrutinized over his failure to bring in more than two players to shore up his squad during the summer transfer window.

And in addition to that, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, arguably his two most valuable players, are yet to extend their contracts which will expire in less than a year.

However, according to Monreal, the duo appear to be committed to the club and they are actually likely to remain at the Emirates stadium.

“The feeling is that they will continue.” the full-back said

“At no time have we talked about the possibility of them leaving. Not at all. They are committed to the group and we will see what happens.

“I can’t say much about it. It does not depend on me.

“The situation is clear. They are two vital players for Arsenal. They are two players who end their contracts at the end of the season.

“If the club want them to stay beyond December [the January transfer window] they will follow.

“Yet, I do not know the club’s intentions. It is other people who are the ones who have to make a decision.”
