Arsenal have yet again been linked with a move for another defender before the summer transfer window closes later this week.

The defensive department was an area where the Gunners really struggled last season, as they finished the year with the most goals conceded out of all of the top six clubs in the Premier League.

Unai Emery has done well to sign the likes of Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos so far, but the Spaniard appears to have an eye on another defensive deal.

According to reports, the Gunners have now moved into the battle for the signature of Jerome Boateng.

The Germany international is already being pursued by rivals Manchester United who have made their enquiries for the defender.

Boateng, a man pocketing £120,000-a-week in wages, has been placed on the list of players for sale by Bayern Munich, who are keen on offloading their ageing stars.

With that said, the German champions are reported to be asking for a fee of £45million for the former Manchester City defender.
