Arsenal are set to make their first move in the pursuit of Yannick Carrasco according to reports on Wednesday.

The Gunners will be taking on West Ham in the Premier League this weekend but what has dominated the headlines over the past week are stories about potential deals which could be done in the January transfer window.

Alex Iwobi’s erratic form in attack appears to have forced manager Unai Emery into the transfer market as he searches for an established winger who can strengthen the squad for the rest of the season.

Yannick Carrasco is one of the players being chased by the club at the moment and according to Foot Mercato, the Gunners are now set to make a formal offer to sign the attacker within the next few days.

This would be Arsenal’s first tangible move in the pursuit of the 25-year-old and the report states that a meeting held by the club on Tuesday resulted in the decision to finally make a bid for the Belgium international.

Carrasco is currently at Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League, after controversially moving to Asia from Atletico Madrid only a year ago.
