Gabriel Paulista is Arsenal’s wanted man.

Last month, the Brazilian defender was rumoured to have attracted the interest of Arsene Wenger even though Villareal denied that there had been an inquiry from the Gunners.

But Arsenal now appear to have made a move after Paulista admitted in an interview this week that a switch to north London may well happen.

Indeed, Spanish radio show ‘El Larguero’ of Cadena SER has now gone as far as reporting that the 24-year-old “will sign for Arsenal FC on Wednesday” with Paulista’s release clause believed to be around £15.2m.

According to the station, Arsenal and the La Liga side have been in talks for the past week over a move which will triple the wages of Paulista.

Another encouraging move in this developing transfer deal is the fact that Villarreal coach, Marcelino has now resigned to losing the services of the Brazilian defender.

“If both Gabriel and the club believe that the sale to Arsenal is what [is] best for everyone, we accept it.” Marcelino said

Paulista is certainly not a household name in football just yet, so here is a lowdown from Red London which was recently published about the player.
