Arshavin to miss 2-3 weeks
Arsenal’s injury woes continues with Andrey Arshavin now the latest concern.
The Gunners already had injury to skipper Cesc Fabregas to ponder while Wenger confirmed to French TV that William Gallas – withdrawn early on Wednesday – was likely to miss the rest of the season.
But the growing list of Arsenal’s stricken men will not end there as Andrey Arshavin has revealed he may face nearly a month on the sidelines.
The Russian was forced off after just 27 minutes of action against Barcelona and Wenger confirmed he suffered a calf strain.
“He is the same (as Gallas), he has done his calf.” Wenger said
And Arshavin has ruled out himself for the next couple of weeks following what he revealed was not a recurrence of an old injury.
“I may not be able to enter the field in the next two to three weeks.” the 28-year-old said after the match.
“No, this is a new injury I have suffered.” he added.

Something’s wrong with the pitch…
Feed them fatty foods. It’s the lack of fatty foods which is making them so brittle and stop them from eating donuts which also contributes to brittleness. Can’t believe they haven’t figured that out yet.
Didn’t know we had a lot of physios here.
I was angry bbefore the game started the TV peple seemed be glorfying Barc and downplaying Arsenal as though we were no entities. Our computer were not much better. What’s the matter? Did these poeple create an inferiority complex. Anyway when the boys got going the did very well. I thought they foughtback on a very good team with courage and character. PityArshaven went off he may have made a big difference,Samy Naz was super again. Just hope some of the injury people can come back,Hope he gives Vela a chance and a couple of the young guys a shot in the League they may spring a surprise.Guess we do not have too many options. What a shame Ramsey is not with us…Here,s praying and hoping. Never Give Up Lawrence J Beadle
Although ourGoalkeeper blew that first gaol from where I sat the second one was reall offside – did anybody else see it>> Lawrence J Beadle
NO LawrenceJB IT WASNT I SAW THE REPLAY IT WAS FAIR .CLICHY PLAYED HIM ON AND I THINK SONG DID AS WELL .
abot nicky b ‘s performance we hardly gotta sniff at their goal in the 1st half and he should have taken his chances .this match proved to me that he aint and never will be world class .im grateful though he played a part in both our goals but as a striker he aint the finished product we need (prove me wrong in the 2nd leg …plzzz).Saying this i dont want him to leave or anything but i really see the urgency of us needing a striker.
Denilson i thought was brilliant .He wasnt out of position ,didnt lose the ball much and retained it well .maybe the lack of physical play by barca helped him .hes certainly an asset for us as hes good at long range as well.i think he ll do well at the nou camp .
almunia is inconsistent .but without him we wouldnt be in the tie
so we shouldnt criticize and should be grateful to him .
Its kinda a weird though for all the domination of barca 4 the ist hour we conceded pretty soft goals.tw 14 burned maxwell apart and clichy too was brilliant .i think the gunners have experienced barca ‘s wrath and they ll be ready to ditch some out at the nc.xavi ‘s the key i feel .hes undescibably brilliant .keeping him quiet is a real must
keep the faith .go gunners
ps – th 14’s home coming was brilliant .hes still the king
Mr. Wenger DO NOT BELIEVE Arsenal will be troubled by injuries to the first team players that’s why he refused to buy able players during the transfers window. He will pay the price of losing both the Champions’ League and the BPL, simply because he do not have able replacements, I said it at the beginning of the season and will repeat myself once again. Arsenal have the talent, skills and everything to win all before them but their first team is too small and they need at least another two to three top class players.Wenger will not learn his lesson unfortunately because he is too stubborn and conceited to admit his poor judgement and mistake.
Yeah on a night of one of the best games ever in champions league you want to teach the manager a lesson.. Just jog on
Randy you are always biase in your judgment nasri played offensively but difensively he was very poor on the night he allowed alves to make a lot of runs
What ‘judgement’ have I made about the game? Tell me
Arsenal can win the title yinka from nigeria
WELL SINCE CESC IS GONE,I SAY THE FOLLOWING FORMATION SHOULD BE ADOPTED:4-1-4-1
THE NORMAL BACKFOUR OF:GAEL,VERM,CAMPBELL,SAGNA
IN FRONT,SONG
THE 4 PLAYERS IN FRONT OF SONG WILL BE VERY IMPORTANT:
NASRI AND DIABY…THEY MUST NULLIFY THE FULL BACKS THREATS.
ON THE WINGS SHOULD BE ROSICKY AND THEO
IN FRONT NICK.
THE MAIN IDEA IS THAT ARSENAL MUST BEGIN TO PRESS BARCA FROM THE BEGINNING ,WHEN BARCA GET THE BALL,ARSENAL MUST FEEL THAT LOSING POSSESION IS LIKE LOSING BLOOD.
INIESTA AND XAVI MUST BE MARKED,AND ,SO, MESSI
IF BARCA DOMINATE TOO MUCH WE GOTTA CATCH THEM IN THE COUNTER-ATTACK…THE ONLY WAY WE CAN WIN IS IF WE GIVE OUR HEART AND SOUL …GO,ARSENAL
Well done boys, for this encouraging result. Lets bring the game to Barcelona in Spain for I believe the boys know what is required and at stake.
as i was saying before the game…….we need to press them…hard….we didnt and we almost paid the price!! by the way where were all of u yesteday no one at the chat except dkd in the end!!!!!!
Sorry usama, i missed the live game but watched the recorded only. Will try to be there next time around.
This team is a mystery, so inconsistant. Someone has a horrible game and then they follow it up with a great game. Yesterday for example..Almunia, Denilson and Theo. Although Theo has been flying since his return.
Expect Verm and Diaby to have smashing games this week vs Wolves.
It’s a shame that AA, Gallas, and Cesc all went down. Shows how tough they are for trying to gut through it. I wonder how much of it was the fact they dupped Wegner into telling them they were match fit? I can remember telling my coach that I was 100% because I didn’t want to miss the big game only to be 50%.
Hopefully Sol can step in for the PL games and Song can fill in for Gallas at the Camp. Nasri will fill the Cesc role and I have a feeling that we will see more Theo, TR7 and Eboue. We should be fine boys.
Anyone know what the heck is going on with Fran? Where has he been? Is he ever on the team?
Up the Guns, proud of our lads yesterday, they did well.
ps. I’m not in my 30’s boys.
arsenal.com…
Following a scan this afternoon, the Club can confirm that Cesc Fabregas has suffered a small crack in his right fibula as a result of the collision with Barcelona defender Carles Puyol during Wednesday evening’s match.
As a consequence, Cesc will miss the remainder of the domestic campaign as he will be out of action for at least six weeks.
Very, very sad about this! If, Wenger can get his tactics right this time around we can still win without, Cesc, AA and gallas!
I know we performed like crap in the 1st half and that is NOT the Arsenal way! Our team is way above what we saw last night. We gave too much room to barca to play with. Arsene, goes and gambles, Gallas…a player that hasn’t played in a long while (BAD decision). Benches one of the best players we have..EBOUE! Eboue, can create problems offensively and defends well!
I’m pleased that without, Arshavin, RVP and Gallas we still managed to fight back. For a min I thought we could win the game, but a 2-2 draw was good enough. We had to force our subs in and that kinda killed the game plan for the Boss, as well.
Rosicky/Eboue in for next week. Theo, I’m still unsure about him being a starter. He is a great player coming off the bench as you guys witnessed yesterday.
A team full of injuries and still young we managed to draw against the best team in the world at the moment. I’m proud of my team. Even if we lose next week (which I’m hoping we win) I’ll be proud of what they accomplished this season. Still we don’t get the credit deserve, and we deserve some sort of recognition! Screw all the haters!
Go Arsenal!
phuck! no cesc.
nasri will have to step it up. as will rosicky. as will eboue. as will walcot. as wil … lessee, who’s left?
poohols is an effing bad-porn-star-perm having, sodomy-referencing-laughter-inducing-name having clod.
there, i feel better.
agree Loft – that’s the attitude!
Who is left on our bench? Sol, Silv, Dudu, Vela, Traore?
Looks like were going to be seeing some youngsters getting a call up. Eastland is Sunu still around, where the F is Fran?
1 USA G……..whats your age than if your not 30?
2 USA G……..MERIDA has signed a pre contract with atletico madrid thats why wenger wont play him,he is going to leave.
3 LOFT!! where were u yesterday man?/?
What are you talking about age?
Sorry, mate I could NOT get my eyes off the TV. I could have signed in to RL but I don’t think I would have said anything. My heart was pumping too fast and I could not believe how bad we were playing (pissed)! I came here after but saw no one so I left. I still can’t imagine how terrible we played in the 1st half. It was embarrassing, but we hit them back hard in the 2nd.
It’s under 30 how about that…
So it is official, he did sign that contract? That’s a shame.
The Arsenal squad is being stretched thin to the limit with injuries to our players. We shall be missing a number of regulars for the return leg. I hope that whoever steps in to replace will deliver. Its disappointing to know that whenever the team is close to achieving its objectives, this ‘injury jink’ happens again. Now, we may lose Cesc for the rest of the season. Whatever happens, even if we don’t win anything this season, I will still be very proud of this team. I believe a new day is dawning for The Arsenal.
Cesc, is out for the rest of the season. arsenal.com confirmed it!
i love my team but if we finish this time empty handed……we may lose cesc or van persie……a big shopping spree for wenger this summer i think:a striker,a defensive mid and 1 or maybe 2 centre back required!!! and a goal keeper!!!!!!
cesc wont leave n rvp is staying….also,we will WIN something thi season…
O No…!!!!!Cesc out for the rest of the season??..Damn!!!!
Usama, you may be correct in saying that we may lose some of our star players if we end up empty handed. I HOPE IT WON’T HAPPEN..otherwise its sad, really sad.
Loft, thanks for the update on Cesc.
AA been playing injured nearly all season. russia didn’t make the WC. glad so the guy can rest and heal up.
and shopping spree? do you guys even follow the club? when as AW EVER done that? Answer: Never.
i’ll take our squad fully fit over any. everyone fit and RVP on the pitch last night, different result. period.
CDM – song. done.
striker – RVP. done.
keeps – almunia. done. (he’s not peter czech, he ain’t seamon, but he’s good. on his good days.)
we are sick with midfielders and when djourou gets healthy we have CB cover for vermy and gallas. and yes, i say keep gallas. when he’s on, he’s Really on.
sure, maybe addition of chamakh for a good #2 stkr. and sometimes almunia does frustrate the crap out of me, but he had a brilliant T1 last night. single handedly kept us in it.
so SHOW SOME FUCKING RESPECT for our boys when they deserve. jaysus.
barca played really well. we were tough, tenacious, and lucky to draw. end of discusion. who’s on the weekend? wolves? lets go kick some ass GUNNERS!!
One of the positives the Arsenal can take to the Barnebeau is the absence of their regular CBs Puyol & Pique.
what??????????,kidz whats wrong with u?
u mean,nou camp
Correction, Nou Camp! Thanks a million DKD.
i dont think cesc and rvp will leave come summer and still feel this seaoson the arsenal will get trophies.every gunner is stepping it up .go gunners
season
IKD U DKD’S brother or something?
yah his twin
