Arteta hopeful that £75,000-a-week Arsenal ace will ‘join the squad soon’
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that one of his previously injured defenders is set to make his return to action on the pitch ‘soon’ ahead of the clash with West Ham in the Premier League this weekend.
The Gunners have had their usual bad luck with injuries this season, as they continue to maintain their faint hopes of securing a spot in the top four of the Premier League.
One of the players who has been frequently limited to the sidelines is Kieran Tierney, a player whom Unai Emery signed from Celtic during last summer’s transfer window.
The 22-year-old – who is earning £75,000-a-week wages (The Sun) – recently recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered in the clash with West Ham in December and ahead of the return fixture at the Emirates stadium, Mikel Arteta has revealed that there is some good news on the left-back’s fitness.
According to the Arsenal boss, Tierney is expected to join the squad soon and he hopes to play a part in the season’s run-in.
“I don’t know when he will be ready to play but he’s done two or three complete sessions now. He’s feeling more and more confident now with contact around him and hopefully he will join the squad soon.” Arteta said, as per Arsenal.com
