Ashley Williams – Welcome to Arsenal?
Swansea City’s skipper has been deemed as Arsenal’s number one target to strengthen their defensive options ahead of next season, but the questions remain over whether he is really good enough to represent the Gunners.
Michael Laudrup has already admitted that Ashley WIlliams may leave this summer, while Arsenal are reported to be preparing to make an enquiry for the 28-year-old who has not hidden the fact that he is open to an Emirates stadium switch.
But after considering his performances for Swansea during their two years in the Premier League and watching these brief highlights of the defender’s ability, would you really welcome him to Arsenal?

williams is good he wl do wel 2geda wt kosin, mert n verma. He is welcom.
Could you say that again in English???
Exactly, Dax.
Haven’t got the foggiest what he’s one about.
Let me know if you manage to translate it.
All the best.
r u kidding how close could u get in a 2nd language if u can understand the man he did fine
Would prefer Adil Rami. He’s cheaper than Williams I believe.
I’d have said Rami 2 seasons ago but his form has dropped. Another Squillaci to me I.M.O… Bring in the Welshman.
William is a perfect choice for arsenal squad, come wenger go for him.
I would love Arsenal to consider Sagna as a centre half/fullback next season and really develop Jenkinson as 1st choice . Then they can bring Hector Bellerin on gradually through the early cup games. Perhaps give him some opportunities during the summer games – iif he struggles there is always the opportunity to bring someone in at a later stage. Arsenal then have the option to give a decent loan spell to Miquel as part of the next stage of his development
The problem with Jenkinson is that he can’t deliver an accurate aerial cross to save his life and, with the personnel that Arsenal has up-front offensively, it is essential for Arsenal to have fullbacks who can put the ball into the area where Giroud, Podolski and Sanogo (and whoever else the club may acquire) can get their heads on it. Right now, Jenkinson–who is quite good defensively–can’t do that and, as a result, is effectively useless in the offensive end.
The Arsenal attack is predicated on the ability of the fullbacks to venture forward and be a viable threat to either dribble past defenders or deliver aerial crosses into the area. Without fullbacks who can do that the Arsenal attack effectively stalls. Unless or until Jenkinson or Bellerin can develop into a quality two-way player at right back, Arsenal needs to keep Sagna–or a quality two-way replacement for him–at that position.
Miquel is a different story. My one concern about him is his lack of overall strength. As Koscielny has shown, one can be tall and lanky and still be an effective CB in the EPL, but one can’t be an effective CB in the EPL without being strong enough to deal with the kind of physical, powerfully-built strikers that one sees week in and week out in the league. Miquel has yet to prove that he is strong enough and technically sound enough to do that.
What?! One of Jenkinsons biggest strengths is his crossings!
Jenkinson is one of the best crossers I’ve seen in 30 years at Arsenal…
Hollis and Gavin are spot on – Jenkinson has done a fantastic job when he has come in and to me he gives us more of an attacking threat and plenty of excellent crosses.
I dont get the signing of Williams at all. He is painfully slow and is a fraction of the player that Vermaelen is. It is crazy that we would force out a guy of the quality of TV for this ageing Welsh tortoise.
Painfully slow? Clearly never seen him play then! Compared to Mertesacker his looks like Usain Bolt!
He doesnt have the class or positioning of Mertesacker so your attempt at put-down humour makes you look more stupid than you already are. Would Williams get 87 caps for Germany, Rhys? Be a good boy and shut up in future.
Have you seen Williams play or are you just another negative idiotic Arsenal supporter? At the moment Arsenal have 3 centre backs so Williams will ad morth depth to the squad. Vermaelen is accident prone and finds him self out of position to much.
Williams is slow, very slow. Guess blind Gooners just want signings. How many times you seen him play Panther? I live in Wales and Swansea is my ‘home’ team when i cant see Arsenal. He’s a good defender but not in the class for a Top 4 side. He’s also 30, not 28 as reported here. Waste of money.
Ur welcome dear
Wau williams a good player he need arsenal now so that he can help to carry the PFL..and..CL..he need to come to arsenal..now..ashley williams brilliant and interligent defender…
Yes,ashley williams is agood player to partner with vamerlean en kosclienly to partner with per mertasacker.
Let Start From Here, Var Fail To Pick Up And Cost Us Champion League Against Bayern Munich At Home And Spurs Away Game, Welcome Home Ashley Williams
Have arsenal serious in this transfer
The biggest mystery for me at CB is this. I’ve seen Jenkinson and Miquel play there a few times and cant remember them doing much wrong. And believe it or not I think Merts, Kos and TV are are all good at what they do – though I accept TV needs to work on his positioning. I think it’s more damage is done because of the number of goal chances we miss than the number of goals we concede.
Ashely william is vary good player and i think is a good march for to be a gunners
bring on all of them fabrigas, tello, wiliams and other big names eg rooney
Williams will do well for the gunners, gutted to see him leaving the swans but he deserves a go at the champions league, Williams not the quickest I agree but he makes up for it with his vision and decision making, cheers ash and all the best do it the swans and prove the doubters wrong.
ASHLEY WILLIAM IS NECESSARLILY TO PLAY AT ARSENAL 100%
This will be a decisive contribution for the gunners and it will bridge the gap of conceding goal…his a good player…Gunners lets go for him !
Is good singning if is possible, welcm williams.
willi boy u ar welcm,bt mr wenger we still need vila, ben, jov, fab, roon, etc
I like Ashley Williams a lot…good solid defender with excellent instincts. He is just what the doctor ordered. Every contending team needs 4 SOLID defenders or you’re a red card and an injury away from chaos..
Hes a bit like Sol Campbell, I remember his free transfer from Tottenham one of the best ever!
Nothing like Sol Campbell. Slow and not dynamic like Sol.
Swansea play a similar style to Arsenal, makes some sense
Yea! We nid more matured england player in our team,, I kno d reason why I say so! #to gain RESPECT# cos d(Arsenal) cn’t fool der league!
Like seriously I’m tired wit all these rumours
Like, totally!
best defender
ashley william is fit for arsenal defence… Let him join and he will never regret..
It’s tough to convince a top-flight player or a young player with the potential to become a top-flight player to come to a club where he won’t be a first-choice starter most matches. Given the partnership that Mertesacker and Koscielny formed during the second half of last season, they are going to be the first-choice starters at Arsenal next season. Which means that whoever the club brings in must be willing to accept that he will be the 3rd choice CB at best and could be 4th choice if Vermaelen stays.
Williams may not be the ideal choice to pair with Mertesacker against an opponent with fast or quick strikers, but he has shown that he can do a quality job against certain types of EPL teams and could probably be just as good against some CL clubs. That would be enough to give Mertesacker and Koscielny a rest when needed and provide some cover against injuries.
At this point in his career, Williams is willing to accept that he will play a bit less than if he stayed at Swansea in order to get a chance to play some CL football for a big club. But, it wouldn’t be easy to lure a younger or more competent CB to Arsenal knowing that, barring an injury to one of the starters, he would have to sit behind Mertesacker and Koscielny for most big matches. So, Williams is as good a match for Arsenal as Arsenal is for Williams.
BTW: the same goes for Julio Cesar: he would get to play some CL and EPL matches while mentoring Szczesny for a couple of years in advance of the World Cup–increasing his chances of being the first-choice keeper for Brazil in the WC–without standing in the way of Szczesny’s development as Arsenal’s long-term first-choice keeper in the way that a younger keeper like Mignolet or Vorm would. Which works well for both Arsenal and Julio Cesar.
William is the ideal player, and he highly welcome to emirate, he is an additional steel to the back four. Wenger, don’t delay – go for him now.
I think his. Good enough to play for arsenal.
Ashley williams is good enough to be agunner
Arsenal go for williams,he is ok.
AW go for williams,he is ok.
Wiliiams wi be gud replcment 4 squillci he is gud
Yah we welcm 4 his cmn so as 2 bust our def
We need a 4th defender for sure for depth. But there shouln’t be too much doomsaying about what we’ve already got. We still had the second best defence in the league on goals conceded.
ya’ williams is a good defender i will be inpress to see him play for Arsenal next seasion

Yäh the guy is good very confident & he can work for us
Of course,he is welcome †̥☺ arsenal cos he is top notch. and cos he’s got the epl experience that we need †̥☺ compliment our other cb.
That will be a great signing
arsene wenger should go if he doesnt spend all the 70 million because we are tired of this bull-shit every year we never going to win anything as long we keep doing the same shit. 10 years that is too long people . plus i like dan crowley but he not going play next season. we need players for next season around 10 new player we need two dm , two new strikers . one world class central d, goal keeper, world class play maker , we need leaders i would pick every captain i the best teams like holland, belgium, germany, spain, italy even in sweden, norway, and denmark league , listen to me arsene wenger before you leave as a shit manager
I did lik him to be am arsenal player
i just urge Prof. Wenger to sign in Ashley Williams to strengthen Arsenal defence. He should not leave that STAR.
Mr wenger pls do something and let all arsenal fans av rest of mind. Time is fast running. pls can’t wait to see our team winning
Prof, pls do not let go off TV. Bring in Julio Ceasar, ashley Williams, fabregas, wanyama, villa or jivetic: and the team is set to challenge for trophy. We are waiting and time is running out.
John Bailey, are you related to Bill or Gary by any chance? At least United put in an honest performance and kept Chelsea and Spurs in control of their own destiny. Seemingly a big follower of Van Persie though aren’t you? Remember that Citeh are regarded as a joke in Europe and Liverpool are 23 years without the league.
Speak english you moron.
