Attacker finally reveals why he did not want to be at Arsenal
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has opened up about why he agreed to complete a loan move away from the Emirates stadium right at the end of the European transfer window this summer.
The 30-year-old only moved to north London during the January transfer window last year as Alexis Sanchez forced a move away from the club to join Manchester United in an underwhelming swap deal between the two Premier League rivals.
Mkhitaryan produced a few decent displays during his early days at the club but his form slowly became worse, heading into last season.
The former Borussia Dortmund star received a lot of criticism from the Arsenal faithful after a below-par first full season at the club, coinciding with the club’s failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League for yet another campaign.
Having completed his loan switch to AS Roma a few days ago, Mkhitaryan has opened up about the reason behind his move and the winger has revealed that a lack of playing time made his decision an easy one to make.
“Everything happened in the last day right after the Tottenham game I got a call from my agent. He told me that I have to fly to Rome the next day and to have medicals with the team as well as to sign the contract,” said Mkhitaryan when asked by a VBetNews journalist.
“It is a great opportunity for me as I didn’t get much playing time.”
