Arsene Wenger has admitted that one of his key players is now likely to remain on the sidelines much longer than expected.
Arsenal’s pursuit of their first Premier League title since 2004 has been troubled once again by injuries to important stars in the squad.
Santi Cazorla, who played a part in the Gunners’ impressive start to the season, has not made an appearance since October.
And according to Wenger, the Spaniard is still struggling to recover after undergoing surgery and therefore his expected return date in March could be postponed.
“Santi is far from starting to run again. He had a little procedure and we have a meeting with the medical people today to see what it really was.” the Arsenal manager said on Friday
“Certainly he will not be available in the next six weeks, that is for sure.
“Will he play again this season? I hope so because once you start to go outside, you have to count six weeks’ preparation. At the moment he is not at that level.
“Let’s hope he can come back in the next three or four weeks on the pitch.”
