Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his side has been hit by a new injury blow after Thursday’s fixture in the Europa League.
The Gunners boss has witnessed his players turn around their form in recent weeks after a frustrating run which saw them lose the League Cup final and surrender any hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Despite Arsenal’s improvement in their form in recent weeks, fitness blows have continued to be a major concern for Wenger.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who moved to north London from Manchester United during the January transfer window, has been troubled by injuries over the last couple of weeks.
The 29-year-old featured on Thursday but he had to be replaced after 61 minutes due to a problem he sustained.
According to Wenger, Mkhitaryan is now unlikely to feature in the Gunners’ next fixture.
“He has a knee problem, we don’t know how bad it is, we have to assess it tomorrow morning.” the Arsenal manager said after the game
“He will certainly be out for Sunday.”
