Arsene Wenger’s men have been hit by another new injury blow heading into this weekend’s away clash at Watford in the Premier League.
The Gunners appear to have recovered from a disappointing start to the new campaign after suffering defeats at Stoke City and Liverpool in August.
With the likes of Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck and Laurent Koscielny already on the sidelines, another key memeber of the squad has succumbed to an injury.
Shkodran Mustafi, who featured in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Brighton almost two week ago, suffered a hamstring problem while representing his country in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
The 25-year-old limped off during Germany’s 5-1 victory over Azerbaijan and there are now fears that he could be sidelined for seven weeks at least.
Mustafi has already been ruled out of the upcoming trip to Watford and that could see Per Mertesacker handed a rare start in the Premier League this season.
