BBC’s Ornstein says Arsenal deal for new signing is ‘close to completion’ after player’s decision
BBC journalist David Ornstein is claiming that the Gunners are close to completing what would be their second signing of the summer after a key decision from the player himself.
Unai Emery has so far managed to secure the acquisition of Gabriel Martinelli, to add at least one more new face to his attack for next season.
The Arsenal boss will be looking to add more players to his under-strength squad, after last season’s failure to secure a place in the Champions League.
William Saliba has been linked with a move to the Emirates stadium over the last couple of weeks and even though rivals Tottenham Hotspur appeared to be hijacking that move, Arsenal are on course to land their target.
According to BBC journalist David Ornstein, the 18-year-old defender has chosen to join Arsenal instead of Spurs. Ornstein also added that the Gunners have deals for Dani Ceballos and Kieran Tierney on the way.
Perhaps unfortunately for the Arsenal faithful though, Saliba is set to rejoin Saint Etienne on loan from Arsenal next season, after the deal is completed.
