BBC’s Ornstein reveals Arsenal ‘have reached agreement’ to sign attacker, 5-year deal offered
The Gunners are on the verge of securing yet another signing this summer, with Unai Emery finally receiving the backing he needs from the club’s hierarchy.
Last summer, the Arsenal boss was not allowed to splash the cash on new signings as he chased cheap deals for Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira, before signing Stephan Lichtsteiner for free.
After failing to finish in the top four of the Premier League last season, Arsenal had been quiet in the transfer market this summer, but a deal for Nicolas Pepe of all people, is now on the cards.
According to BBC journalist David Ornstein, the 24-year-old, who happens to be one of the hottest prospects in Europe, is set to secure a move to the Emirates stadium. The Gunners have reportedly ‘reached an agreement’ to sign Pepe, who was the talisman for Lille last season.
Arsenal have reached an agreement with Lille to sign Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe for ~€80m, paid by instalments to fit #AFC budget. 5yr deal, agent agreement still needed but set to be closed in next 24/48hrs. Napoli also have agreement with #LOSC but agent rejected proposal
