BBC’s Ornstein reveals update on Arsenal move to sign 25-year-old before window closes

BBC journalist David Ornstein has revealed an update on the Gunners’ attempt to secure the signing of a new midfielder before the January transfer window closes in a week.
The Gunners did well to beat Chelsea 2-0 at home on Saturday to boost their hopes of securing a place in the top four of the Premier League this season.
Despite the win over the weekend, Unai Emery is very much aware that his side still needs some strengthening if the club is to return to the Champions League next season.
FC Barcelona star Denis Suarez has been picked out as the man whom the Gunners are currently pursuing in the transfer market, with the midfielder viewed as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Various claims suggested a few days ago that a deal to sign Suarez had already been agreed.
However, according to David Ornstein, a deal is actually not close to sign the midfielder at the moment.
As per @DaveHytner Bellerín ruptured ACL confirmed in scan today, 6-9 months. Rest of squad were paintballing pre #MUFC. Francis Cagigao tipped by many to succeed Mislintat as HoR with Monchi among names for TD (no timescale). #AFC want 2 loan deals, 1 being Suarez but not close
