Contrary to recent reports, Laurent Koscielny will not be undergoing surgery.

The defender is having a stop-start season due to injuries and French reports recently suggested that Koscielny could be set to go under the knife.

An achilles injury had been Koscielny’s chronic problem this campaign but he managed to return to action two weeks ago, only to be sent back to the sidelines through a calf problem.

There have been fears over the 29-year-old suffering a similar fate to former Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen who is yet to make his debut for Barcelona after relentless injury troubles ever since he had an operation on his achilles heel in 2011.

But Arsene Wenger has now quashed rumours about Koscielny suffering a similar fate to Vermaelen and the Gunners’ boss insists that his centre-back is on his way back.

Koscielny will not be fit to face Liverpool on Sunday, but his manager sounded upbeat on Thursday.

“Koscielny is out (for the game on Sunday). But he is progressing as planned.” Wenger said

  1. Something is smoking in arsenal physio and medical team at the Emirates. The way the injuries develops in the team beats my imagination. Either the training is not adequate or too hard. The players are just too injury prone for my liking.

  2. I also wonder about this injury matter at Arsenal, in England Arsenal is the most worst club that are likely to go injury I blame Wenger for everything

    1. Why is Wenger to blame for everything, He is the manager not the coach and not a physio, look to the coaching and medical staff for the injuries.

  3. English FA is to be blamed because they hate Wenger, since Wenger is not an Englishman, whatever development he brings to English football, their press are on standby to rubbish his effort. The same applied to the FA referees, they allow arsenal players to be kicked while they turn theirs to another way. lt is a shame that they found nothing good in Wenger. The FA should know that Wenger had been destined to be famous even if they turn the clock backward, what God has sealed stands sealed.
